Adventures in Watercolor (3hrs)

Ages 14+ Beginner Level: In this exploratory class we will discover the magic of what watercolor paint can do. We will experiment with color mixing, water bottle spritzing, and testing out different types of paper. The class is intended to be upbeat, relaxed, and most of all fun! No experience with watercolors required. A class kit including paper and a palette with six colors of professional grade watercolor paints (QoR watercolor by Golden) will be available to purchase from Art Paint Draw. Brushes will be available to borrow or purchase for the class. Space is limited to 8 students
Teacher: Nita Marlette
Teacher Bio: Nita is a signature member of the Northern Arizona Watercolor Society. Originally from the San Francisco Bay Area where she was heavily influenced by the watercolor style of the "California Artists" (1920's-1940's American Regionalist Movement). In Arizona, the Southwestern architecture and Sedona's rocky landscapes have become her favorite subjects to paint.
Drawing Basics 1: Shading/Eye Training (2hrs)

Ages 14+ Beginner Level: This class will cover how to look at your subject, how to get realistic shadowing, and achieve texture with graphite pencils. Materials for use in class will be provided by Art Paint Draw. Space is limited to 8 students

Paint Along with Grace: Valentine's Day Theme! (2.5hrs)
Sunday February 9, 2025 1-3:30pm $50.00
($30.00 class fee plus a $20.00 materials kit included)
Ages 14+ Beginner Level: Paint along with Grace Wu in this fun Valentine's Day themed beginner workshop. You will create a painting step by step using professional art supplies. Learn how to mix and apply colors. A $20 material kit is included with the cost. The kit will include a Windsor Newton 11"x14" canvas and a palette with six colors of Golden fluid acrylics. Brushes will be available to borrow in class. Space is limited to 8 students.

Teacher Bio: Grace Wu is an artist and a grief specialist. She was born in Hong Kong, educated in New York and has been in the United States for 25 years. She obtained a B.A in Fine Arts in New York and an M.A in Community Health. Grace has been teaching painting sessions around the Verde Valley
Drawing Basics 2: Perspective Made Easy (2hrs)

Ages 14+ Beginner Level: In this workshop we will learn what makes a scene have depth. We will go over 1 point, 2 point, and 3 point perspective using graphite pencils. Materials for use in class will be provided by Art Paint Draw. Space is limited to 8 students.

Drawing Basics 3: Drawing the Human Head (2hrs)
Thursday February 20, 2025 1-3pm $25
Ages 14+ Beginner Level: In this class we will examine the proportions of the human head and learn some easy methods for keeping a realistic head. We will not worry about likeness of the face, but rather focusing on proportions at this time using graphite pencils. Materials for use in class will be provided by Art Paint Draw. Space is limited to 8 students.

Expressive Portraiture A: Anatomy & Structure (3hrs)
Friday February 21, 2025 1-4pm $45
Ages 14+ Intermediate Level (prior drawing experience helpful): First of two workshops on creating portraits in charcoal. Learn the basics of effective portraiture while exploring the multi-faceted medium of charcoal. This class will focus on facial anatomy from two different common perspectives. Not only will we learn the core rules of facial structures, but we’ll also be investigating what makes a face unique and recognizable. Materials to use in class will be provided by Art Paint Draw.

Originally from Nashville, TN, Ben has worked in museums, colleges, and both non-profit and commercial galleries as an artist and educator. Expressive Portraiture B: Expression (3hrs)
Friday March 7th, 2025 1-4pm $45
Ages 14+ Intermediate Level (prior drawing experience required): Take your charcoal portraits to the next level with this workshop! Learn to use textures and value contrast to create drama, intensity, and a range of expression in drawings of the face. This is a continuation of Portraiture A class but can work as a stand-alone class for confident artists wanting to take their portraits to the next level. Materials to use in class are provided by Art Paint Draw.

Paintalong Watercolor Pencils 1: Easy Sunflower (2hrs)

***this class requires a material kit for $20. If taking multiple classes of this series only one kit is needed***
