Art Supplies are expensive!
No question high quality art supplies are a financial investment. Professional and artist grade paints have more pigment, blend better and go further then student grade paints so we highly recommend them, even to new and student artists. We are also doing what we can to keep prices competitive with what is online and in the big stores. Our best name-brand products like Golden, Gamblin, Daniel Smith and Princeton are sold in shop at 20-50% off the MSRP every day. When possible, supplies are purchased at a discount and the savings are passed on to our customers. If you don’t feel ready for professional art supplies, we carry a few select student grade products and beginner art kits. We also offer a 10% discount for students, teachers, and members of our local art groups to help with costs.
What if I need art supplies outside of your store hours?
Art emergencies can happen! If you need something outside of regular hours send a text/email or call and we will do what we can to make an appointment and get you what you need.
What kind of classes do you offer?
We work with local artists to bring a variety of class options. All of our classes are single sessions lasting from 2-3 hours. We do this to reduce the cost and commitment for our students. It gives you an opportunity to try out materials and techniques. Supplies for classes are frequently included. Our classes so far have included watercolor basics, sketchbook journaling, watercolor pencils, drawing in charcoal and graphite, color theory in acrylic and in oil, pastel portraiture, gelli printing, comic creation, and frequency art. Costs usually run from $25-45 per class and are limited to 5-8 students depending on the classroom configuration.
We are always open to new ideas for classes so if you are a local artist and want to teach at our space at Art Paint Draw, come on in or send an email to amy@artpaintdraw.com
Who’s behind Art Paint Draw?
My name is Amy and I am a lifelong artist. I worked for 15 years as a self employed metalsmith in the San Francisco Bay Area before escaping to the desert of Northern Arizona in early 2020. I received my BFA from California College of the Arts and my MA in Transformative Art and Consciousness/Dream Studies from JFK University. I have taken art classes in many states and in many mediums starting as young as 16 when I went to Greenfield Community College in Western Mass and got a surprisingly excellent foundation in art education. I have found that all art disciplines benefit from a strong foundational core of drawing and design, which is why I have decided to focus on these basics at Art Paint Draw. The goal is to create a space to support the local arts community in the Verde Valley. We are a true family business and you will likely find me working along side my husband and teenagers, who will all bring something unique to our growing business.
