All classes at Art Paint Draw are for students ages 14-adult and are in person at our store in Cottonwood AZ. Classes require a minimum of 4 students enrolled with a maximum of 8. Refund policy: If we don’t meet the minimum within one day of class starting, class may be cancelled and students given a full refund. For classes that meet the minimum enrollment, there are no refunds within 1 week of class start (or first session of a series). Contact for any questions info@artpaintdraw.com

JUNE CLASSES
Watercolor Wednesdays! Beginner (3hrs)
Wednesday June 10th, 2026 1-4pm $45
***Please plan to bring your own watercolors or purchase our class watercolor sampler or a set from the store. Some paper, brushes, and other supplies will be available to use in class.
Ages 14+ Intermediate: Come and explore tips, tricks & techniques that will show you how to create watercolor MAGIC on the first Wednesday of the month. No experience with watercolors is required. Just bring your enthusiasm, humor & willingness to explore this wonderful medium. Class size limited to 5 students in order to give each student maximum opportunity to learn brush techniques & color mixing along with basic composition guidelines.
Teacher: Nita Marlette
Teacher Bio: Nita is a signature member of the Northern Arizona Watercolor Society. Originally from the San Francisco Bay Area where she was heavily influenced by the watercolor style of the "California Artists" (1920's-1940's American Regionalist Movement). In Arizona, the Southwestern architecture and Sedona's rocky landscapes have become her favorite subjects to paint.
Portraits in Pastel: Advanced (4hrs)
Friday June 12th, 11am-3pm $80
Ages 14+ Advanced: This workshop builds on foundational pastel techniques, guiding students toward a more refined approach to portraiture and personal style. We will explore important decisions in creating an effective composition from photo reference, then students will work from their own photos to deepen their understanding of color, value, and texture in pastels. Emphasis will be placed on personal voice, intentional mark-making, and developing form beyond the initial block-in stage. By the end of the session, students will have a more developed pastel portrait and participate in a group critique, gaining valuable feedback and insight into their work, as well as tips on where to go next in making their own artwork. Students will work from their own reference photos.

Teacher Bio: Ben P Norton is an artist based out of Rimrock, AZ. Originally from Nashville, TN, Ben has worked in museums, colleges, and both non-profit and commercial galleries as an artist and educator. Paintalong Watercolor Pencils: Cave Dwelling (2hrs)

Ages 14+ Beginner Level:
Step by step instructions takes you through the process of creating a postcard sized painting from this photograph of a Canyon Cliff Dwelling using watercolor pencils. Good for beginners and continuing artists. Space is limited to 7 students. Materials for use in class provided by Art Paint Draw and additional blank cards are available to purchase.

Painting for Beginners in Acrylic: Mountain Lake Scene (3hrs)
Saturday July 11th, 2026 1-4pm $50
Ages14+ Beginner: Inspired by the mountains of Northern Arizona? Come learn how to paint them! We will go through the steps of basic color mixing and dive into creating a lake scene with mountains in Fall. We will learn about perspective and how to create images that appear to be far away and others that are close.All materials for use in class are provided by Art Paint Draw including an 11"x14" canvas board and Golden professional brand acrylic paint.

Teacher Bio: Erinn McCusker paints the energy of the universe by using bright emotion-filled colors and loose brushstrokes. She has painted landscapes in Maine, New Hampshire, Arizona, New Mexico, and Turks and Caicos. She has taught painting classes for beginners and intermediate level artists for many years while living in Maine. She loves sharing her joy of painting!

Saturday July 18th, 2026 1-4pm $50
Ages14+ Beginner: Come learn how to paint summer flowers from what you see in you garden! We will cover color mixing, how to lay out and design a painting, the different brushes and brushstrokes that work best and how to create an exciting background simply by using your imagination. You can bring some cuttings from your yard for inspiration or pictures of them if you would like. All materials for use in class are provided by Art Paint Draw including an 11"x14" canvas board and Golden professional brand acrylic paint.

Plein Air Basics (in oil) $54

Ages 14+ Intermediate (prior oil painting experience): Curious about painting outdoors but not sure where to start? This 3-hour workshop is designed as a practical introduction to plein air oil painting, with a strong focus on the tools, setup, and strategies you need to work outside. We’ll cover everything from choosing the right portable easel and organizing your materials to selecting a strong composition and working efficiently as the light changes. Students will learn how to simplify what they see, mix color quickly, and approach outdoor painting with confidence. Most of the class will focus on equipment, packing, and setup, making this ideal for beginners to plein air or studio painters looking to transition outdoors. Students will complete a small study during class while applying these techniques. The workshop will take place inside at the Art Paint Draw classroom.
