All classes at Art Paint Draw are for students ages 14-adult and are in person at our store in Cottonwood AZ. Classes require a minimum of 4 students enrolled with a maximum of 8. Refund policy: If we don’t meet the minimum within one day of class starting, class may be cancelled and students given a full refund. For classes that meet the minimum enrollment, there are no refunds within 1 week of class start (or first session of a series). Contact for any questions info@artpaintdraw.com

AUGUST CLASSES

Watercolor Wednesdays!

Wednesday August 6th, 2025 1-3pm

Ages 14+ Beginner: In this exploratory class we will discover the magic of what watercolor paint can do. We will experiment with color mixing, water bottle spritzing, and testing out different types of paper. The class is intended to be upbeat, relaxed, and most of all fun! No experience with watercolors required. A class kit including a mini palette with nine colors of professional grade watercolor paints (QoR and Daniel Smith) and a variety of watercolor papers is available to purchase from Art Paint Draw or you can bring your own supplies. Brushes, spray bottles and accessories will be available to borrow during class.

Teacher: Nita Marlette

Teacher Bio: Nita is a signature member of the Northern Arizona Watercolor Society. Originally from the San Francisco Bay Area where she was heavily influenced by the watercolor style of the "California Artists" (1920's-1940's American Regionalist Movement). In Arizona, the Southwestern architecture and Sedona's rocky landscapes have become her favorite subjects to paint.

Skull Still Life Workshop: August (2hrs)

Wednesday August 13th, 2025 1-3pm $30

Ages 14+ Beginner/Intermediate: Join Art Gecko for our new monthly 2 hour skull drawing workshop! You will be working from an assortment of human skull models and real animal skulls. You'll be starting off with a postcard sized study using "Sketch and Wash" water soluble graphite to work out shading and layout. From there you can try a variety of mediums including regular graphite on paper and charcoal pencils on toned paper. We will add additional options of dry media to try out each month. The class can be repeated and all levels are welcome. Classes will be limited to 5 students to allow for more individual attention. Materials to use in class will be provided

Adventures In Sketchbook Journaling! (3hrs)

Saturday August 23rd, 1-4pm $57.50

Ages 14+ Beginner/Intermediate: Previous experience with watercolor may be helpful but not required. Explore ways to illustrate your pages and tell your story using simple illustrations, creative formatting and personal themes. Sketchbooks are a one-of-kind work of art, unique to you through your marks & memories from travels to doodles to notes. Be ready to explore creative page layout ideas, lettering and composite sketches. Please bring your imagination, humor & willingness to explore.

Paintalong Watercolor Pencils: Broken Arrow Tree (2hrs)

Step by step instructions takes you through the process of creating a postcard sized painting from this photograph of the famous tree on Broken Arrow Trail in Sedona (rumored to have inspired Disney) using watercolor pencils. More Art Less Fear: Printmaking (3hrs)

Saturday September 13th, 1-4pm $45

Ages 14+ Beginner: “Can’t Draw? Don’t let that get in your way!” Is an introduction to printmaking using gelli plates and handmade stamps. If you feel intimidated by art making, this workshop will offer you creative skills you can try in your own home using accessible materials to make cool things. Perfect for beginning and returning students. This class will cover a variety of printmaking methods including gelli plates, stamp carving, creating textures with repurposed objects, stencils, masking, and monoprints. All materials to use in class will be provided.

More Art Less Fear: Collage (3hrs)

Saturday September 27th, 1-4pm $45

Ages 14+ Beginner: “Everything You Need to Know You Learned in Kindergarten” is a collage focused workshop that also includes mark-making. A mindset of lowering stakes and embracing mistakes will be encouraged. Through warm up activities, tips about repurposing materials, composition principles, reviews on texture, and printmaking methods; participants will each make a 5”x7” collage. This workshop is a great followup to the “More Art Less Fear:Printmaking” class, and all techniques can be combined. Classes can be repeated. All materials will be provided
